CZARFACE & MF DOOM – Czarface Meets Metal Face ALBUM REVIEW

Listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YiHjUXQpLM&ab_channel=CZARFACE

Though a bit predictable and restrained, Czarface Meets Metal Face is a solid collaboration that’s a cut above both parties’ most recent work.

monsterfresh says:

The decision to keep pounding away with the claim that Czarface outright bit DOOM with the comic hero angle may seem obvious, but it’s actually kind of a flimsy argument that doesn’t hold much weight. Some of the first real attention that 7L & Esoteric ever garnered was way back in 1996, while still under the name of God Complex, with the track “Secret Wars,” which was packed w/ nothing but comic book references (primarily Marvel-based). They put the 1st collab w/Deck out 3years later. Ghostface was already doing the Tony Starks Iron Man shit at the time with the classic TV samples, by then, too. Dumile hadn’t dropped anything under the MF DOOM alias, yet. As far as recording under various aliases/fictional characters, Kool Keith was on that shit well before MF DOOM, and DOOM was a huge Ultramagnetic fan. There’s even an interview with Del where he mentions bonding with KMD over the fact that they were both into Ultramagnetic. Keith’s, Dr Doom – First Come First Served album even dropped in 1998, a year before Operation Doomsday. Eso has been on this comic shit from the jump, so if the idea that their approach is purely derivative is fucking with anybody, it’s not entirely accurate. At this point, the super hero alter-ego thing is established; its almost its own genre. But, beyond that, trying to label a trio made up of a member of WU Tang and 7L and Esoteric, of all people, as a unit simply riding the whole thing late in the game is bunk. These are some of the cats that laid the foundation for it.

Salliance says:

Horrible reviewer. First off, their first album (czarface) was the best album from the group. Cement 3s, czar rafaeili are easily the best tracks out of all of their albums (including this new one)! Second, every hero needs a villian was not that good at all! I cant believe you think that was their best work smh.

I do agree with this review for the most part (7.5/10 for me)
