Speak Ya Clout Podcast says:

I remember copping this album when it first dropped and being real disappointed. but I still liked it a bit. but over the years I lost enjoyment with it. there’s some bangers on there for sure like Gold Rush, Downtown Assassins and O.G. Wake Up but overall it falls flat. the murder trial definitely did a number on him. I do think Snoop’s No Limit releases are solid though. Great Review as always.

Nath Jones says:

…Dope Polo shirt, always freshly dipped !!!!.

Another album that was dissappointing on its release, yet had the potential to be a great album. When it was released Death Row was in turmoil and tracks were cut from it last minute for various reasons. Also I remember Snoop saying he cut the 2Pac tracks off out of respect as he didn’t want to be seen making money of his dead friend.

If you took out alot of the weeker tracks and added some of these in it would easily have been Snoop’s 2nd best album

Usual Suspects Snoop Feat. Threat
classic cut

Street Life Snoop Feat. 2Pac & Prince Ital Jo
In my view one of the best songs 2Pac and Snoop done together, I prefer the version with out Prince Ital jo’s long verse at the start

Midnight Love Feat. Daz & Toni Tony Tone
Released as a b-side to Tha Doggfather single, this would have been a better single release for the album

Head Doctor (original ’96 version)

I would aslo stick in some other joints released around that time like

Beware of my Crew by the LBC Crew
Classic cut from ’96

21 Jumpstreet Feat. Tray Deee
Released in ’94 but classic Snoop track which would fit the album well

O.G. Off Daz’s 1st album

and Eastside (Death Row original Eastsiders)

Tracks I cut from it were
Up jump tha boogie
Freestyle conversation
Snoop Bounce
(Tear ’em off) Me and my doggz
You thought
Sixx Minutes
Snoops upside ya head

Just my personal choice, I didn’t really feel any of them tracks and used to just skip them when I got the cd when it came out. Another track I used to skip but don’t mind now is Doggyland. I know its not a great track but for some reason I quite like it

Good review man

Oliver Hernandez says:

This album from snoop is ok not that good as doggystyle

TheCrunchySopa says:

This lp’s unfortunately a very disappointing follow up for me man.. just bored me to death. You brought up that it’s very laid back and I agree, but I feel that it really doesn’t work in Snoop’s favor here. *Snoop has chilled, laid back delivery as it is.. so a prod. sound that’s filled with laid back funk grooves /instrumentation really ain’t best combo.. at least for me it isn’t. Just doesn’t grip ya at all like his debut does, lacking that energy. So personally wise: very boring album overall to me. More less bias, objective look: decent / arguable solid album considering Snoop’s circumstances/situation at the time. It’s not bad at all though. *I bet there’s folks out there that really love this kinda sound/vibe, and that’s cool. That ain’t me though lol. But yeah, real thorough review man. Peace

DJ Gary says:

I heard Dj Quik ghost produced on there but not sure what track

JazzMatic67 says:

Enjoyed this one Mo..  Wuz up Mo..

Anthologylife14 says:

Firstly the outfit is looking cool bro, definitely liking the hat, secondly I totally enjoyed this review. I personally do not care for this album at all your review I enjoyed more than this album ahaha. This record to me was a total dudd compared to his debut. I think he rushed this album as soon he was aquited for 1st and 2nd degree murder he realised that the Death Row ship was sinking and he needed to quickly release a project and this was the project. I mean it’s definitely not his worst, time has shown us that but it’s one of his worst probably at 4 of his worst releases of all time lol. Great review brother!!!

Q Smooth says:

I agree this Album could’ve been better in my Opinion I just album is out right because he is going through a lot around that time we have to murder case and all of that this album is the weakest Cd that he did it’s just like nas A couple of his albums were failures to like nostra Thomas and it was written condo and I am Sameway with snoop

Nath Jones says:

Whats good Steve, this has got to be the worst 2nd lp ever, utter garbage.

I quite liked Top Dogg though. Great upload fam as always.

Cris Sayago says:

Downtown Assassins is my SHIT! Apparently there was a film relating to the content on that song called “Corleone’s Revenge” (only a small clip was released on the Death Row Uncut home video set to the then unreleased “Head Doctor”

Also another fun fact was in October of ’97 Snoop was set to drop an EP called “Tha Doggumentary” which was supposed to have cuts like the B-Side Midnight Love and a few other joints.

Great review

andrewnorriz says:

This album is ok give it 3 out of 5 stars Snoop jus beat his murder case n was tryna mature on this album This album is too laid back in my opinion Dj Pooh did his thing wasn’t feeling a lot of the Daz beats Sam Sneed did a banger album feels unfocused he didn’t have Dre in his corner maybe one day we’ll get another Snoop n Dre album seems like Eminem is the only artist who got Dre to produce a sophomore album and more mmlp encore relapse never got that with game snoop 50

Holiday Styles says:

I love that album really underrated and was the first time i heard Tray Deee rhyme on Downtown Assassins and Wake Up Tray one the most slept on mc’s on the west never heard a bad verse from him

Treyvon Williams says:

I give this album 10/10 because i think this is the best album he made. it have some best soundtracks to it.

Gary Blanco says:

this album was ok it’s a decent body of work nothing special about it

SpeaKOn It says:

Highly Underated album, it’s a classic imo

Godzilla Verses says:

There’s some great songs on this album

KillahTapes'93 says:

What up kid! hope your having a NICE friday man! I can’t say much about snoop these days but “doggfather” was snoops last decent effort to me. I looked @ my snoop collection the other day & can’t figure out why I kept on buying 7 more of his joints after this one! haha!! “gold rush” , “groupie” , “blueberry” , “Downtown assassins” sum good joints on here! I remember this album got alot of hate cuz dre didn’t produce it also. as always Appreciate the review! have a NICE weekend yo!

Michael c says:
