DOJA says:

Really like this album as it shows how much variety Organized Noize has in their arsenal. These dudes were innovating styles ahead of their time with Outkast, Goodie Mob, Witchdoctor, and more. The beats to me had a southern flavor that you can’t get on an east coast joint. One of the true statements in hip hop that the south got something. I really enjoyed Cee-Lo on this project too, that dude can SPIT. people tend to forget that. What did you think about their second album? I know alot of people dont really like it but to me it sounded more like a pure southern album instead of the mixture of boom bap on this one. Both albums are dope tho, for different reasons i say

TriBoro Gigolo says:

Always felt like this LP was so underrated. Being from brooklyn i can honestly say ,NY niggas definitely slept on goodie mob. Soul food is a classic. The production is gritty, soulful and has that southern flavor before the crunk/trap era. The songs were bangin. This is a group that always had a social/political message in their rhymes. Sesame street, dirty south, live at the o.m.n.I., even the title track soul food sent a message to the youth, to eat healthier and get rid of the fast food. Who knew cee-lo would’ve been a big solo artist back in 95′. Good review. Keep doing your thing and spreading knowledge to these kids about what real hip hop sounded like back in the golden era. Peace.
