This is probably my favorite album, I’ve definitely listened to it more than any other album, but I’m not a big music guy to be fair. I love how he conveys his grounded struggles. I really relate to that, since I’m around the age of Nas when he made this. I love great lyrics that flow and have nice rhymes. Any suggestions for other stuff to listen to if I like this?

“Hit the earth like a comet, invasion, Nas is like the Afrocentric Asian, half man half amazing”
“You might be dead, I’m a Nike head I wear chains that excite the feds.”
“Guess who got shot in the dome piece Jerome’s niece on our way home from Jones Beach.”

Illmatic was such a perfect album that not even Nas could surpass it. I’m not pretentious enough to say anything is the greatest of all time, but Illmatic is a bible to hip hop and one which is still hard to touch 20 years later and my daughter will replay 20 years from now and feel the same way.
