This is just my honest opinion, but you have to be looking for reasons why TPAB isn’t the best album of the year so far. I mean it’s so undeniable how good this album, and for him to do it at the commercial level… GOAT

IniTial91 says:

I still don’t get the hype for Kendrick. I’ve listened to all his albums to see what I’m missing. To see what other people are hearing when they listen to him. But to me no matter what I play from him (with the exception of some tracks that I really enjoy sonically) I don’t see what makes him so special to people.

I find his flow to be really rough and unpolished sounding, he’s not as deep or concise as some of the other artists I like. His sound and voice to me sounds really unpolished and clashes with most of the tracks. His production sounds disjointed, so does his arrangement of songs. He often rhymes just single syllables and sometimes his half rhymes really don’t even rhyme at all or flow together and on top of all that his lyrics have never really impressed me. Combine that with his propensity to not complete stanzas and I just hear a mess of sounds pretending to be music.

I know this sounds really harsh to talk about one of the only dudes who’s really trying to put out good music (I do at least recognize that he puts effort into his music) but i just feel like there are a lot of dudes who do it better. I really don’t hear what everyone else seems to hear. Even his control verse wasn’t really that good to me, I didn’t see what the big deal was. Los’ verse was WAY better and even that wouldn’t have gotten the reaction that everyone else seemed to get from Kendrick’s verse. I actually thought it was kind of a bitch move to put people’s names in your mouth especially dudes you know ain’t really gonna come at you like that because you’re boys with with, so it’s like you’re using their names to draw attention to yourself. Putting people’s names in your mouth with negativity as always been some bitch shit where I grew up.

Maybe someone can break down their opinion of why they feel Kendrick is so dope because I really wanna understand what makes him so special, I must be missing something because with where it’s at now I just don’t get it and I’ve tried several times to. Like I said I went and listened to all him albums and really tried to give him a fair shot but people are putting him in the convo with Nas and Em and Jay and it’s like dude’s not even better than J Cole, Los or Logic (who don’t belong in the conversation with legends) so why Kendrick?

The Passive Aggressive Asshole says:
