Classic Jazz Album Review – Morgan/Gordon

Dexter Gordon Go, Blue Note Records, Lee Morgan, Search for the New Land

First Pressing Goodness says:

Both of these albums are great. I have several Lee Morgan’s but not Search for a New land. It is definitely on my want list. I have a n 80’s French pressing of the Go album which is fantatsic. Thanks for sharing!

Amorphous Audio says:

I have the Music Matters releases for Go and Search for a New Land. I love Go and need to find more of his stuff.

The Vinylverse says:

Another interesting episode, Bradley. Lee Morgan has become one of my favorite jazz musicians. I don’t have much on vinyl but am adding over time. I believe we discussed it before but I Called Him Morgan was a great documentary. Like a lot of other jazz musicians Lee’s story is a tragic one. Search for the New Land is on my vinyl want list. Dexter Gordon Go is definitely a must have album, IMO. I find if I’m ever tense or anxious that record eases my mind. I never saw it but did you see the 1986 movie Round Midnight that Dexter Gordon starred in? Apparently his performance was so good that it got him an Oscar nomination. Herbie Hancock and Bobby Hutcherson were also in it. I need to track that down and watch it. Oh, and I totally agree on Blue Note. Their presentation is top notch. The design of their album covers is incredible. And the album covers usually do a good job of portraying the mood of the album.
