great video James! always enjoy when you cover jazz. and yes, I end up buying allot of what you show!
Nobody has a tone as beautiful as Dex. I need that album for my collection. I’m a new subscriber, nice video. I’m old enough and lucky enough to have seen both Mingus and Monk. 2 absolute giants. Keep digging
Big titles, nice. Yo I got a lot of love for Dex, nice to see him show up. Such a great album too. I gotta say the super loud sip sound made me laugh, great humor. As usual it’s nice to see you man. Cheers.
Nice video, I need that Dexter Gordon
Excellent stuff. Classics. Need to pull that prince lasha out again. Been a while. It’s so good. I remember buying it and knowing absolutely nothing about it. Then getting blown away. I still haven’t listened to unit structures. But been on the search for a copy. I didn’t know who played on it. Interesting. Same goes for members. That lineup. Wow. No kidding it’s amazing. That’s my favorite monk as well. And one of the first few jazz albums I listened to. Definitely helped me fall in love with jazz. You know I’m all about the jazz so happy to hear you talking about jazz. I will revisit one flight up. I think I have the cd. See how I experience it now after my taste and jazz knowledge has expanded so much over past couple years. Peace James!
I’m quite new to a lot of this stuff, but I like the sound of the Thelonious Monk LP. That is just about where I am at right now. The Dexter Gordon LP sounds smooth too. Tips like these are a valuable source of info for me right now. Cheers
Dude, I’ve found that the videos I prepare for least end up being the ones that get he most views! I think the fourth Guru Guru is half a great album, for what it’s worth. I’m slowly coming around on that Pharoah Sanders album… I’m generally pretty lukewarm on him, outside of Thembi, but I keep coming back cuz Coltrane loved him and hell, Sun Ra took him in, and I figure they know more than I do. I have two Max Roach records, I think one is solid and one is lame… I’ll check that one out. Oh shit, and there you go busting out my favorite Dexter Gordon! Your style is hilarious, man, what a fun video to watch!
Max Roach Members git Weary yes that’s my favorite to so intense funky beautiful . I have a few Pharoah Sanders Thembi was my favorite til I heard Tauhid I agree Sonny Sharrock smokes on guitar . James luv you channel man when I wanna hear Cecil Taylor I reach for Unit Structures every time. lovell
Now u got me humming that bloody final countdown da da da da Dah diddle da Dah du. Damn u. lol

Awesome video. Do you own a copy of A love supreme?
That amplified slurp made me laugh out loud! Nice VCLT from Ben and, of course, excellent jazz pieces. Cecil Taylor’s music is very composed, even when it doesn’t sound like it. Love everything he’s ever done.
Did you like that A House track. U are into local scenes so that was an interesting one for u I thought.
SSSSSSSLLLLLUUUUURRRRRRPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!
That’s was a juicy slurp! Nice.
I haven’t been on much of a Jazz kick either latley, too busy collecting NZ records
