Apostrophe(‘) is a great Zappa album. Bongo Fury is great too!
Dude…Hot Rats came out YEARS before any of those other musicians fusion records…even Bitches Brew, usually credited as the 1st actual fusion record, came out over a year after Hot Rats. Zappa don’t get the credit he deserves. Anyone reviewing Zappa should know wtf they’re talking about
Can anyone give me a rundown on Zappa’s best albums?
I’m late to the Zappa party. I love Freak Out, but I’m trying to understand Zappa’s more eccentric stuff. It’s weird cuz I absolutely love Tom Waits, especially his eccentric stuff … But I’m having a little trouble getting into Zappa.
Thanks.
HEY ZAPPA FANS!!! Please read this….
I recently have listened to and loved every single second of Hot Rats!! So much so it’s become one of my favorite albums already.
I wanted to know what other albums you would recommend that are similar to this. I suppose in short what are the best Jazz fusion albums?
I have already tried and loved Sleep Dirt, Grand Wahzoo and the other albums that are mentioned at the beginning of this video and have loved those too.
Please, can you recommend some others. Thanks so much in advance 🙂

Willie the Pimp is my fucking jam.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I prefer Frank’s Rykodisc remix of Hot Rats over his 1969 original mix. With other albums and artists I usually prefer the original mixes.
I have the 1995 Rykodisc CD with the remix and think it sounds great. The ’80s Rykodisc CD has the same remix, but I’ve never heard what the mastering sounds like. ’80s CDs often sound muffled. I’ve heard the 2012 UME/Zappa Records CD which restores the 1969 original mix.
Some differences that make me prefer the remix: 1. That high pitch sound on “Son of Mr Green Genes” that irritates me on the original is lower in the remix and sounds beautiful. 2. The piano can be heard on “Little Umbrellas” on the remix, whereas it’s barely audible on the original. 3. The “Little Umbrellas” flute solo that was left out of the original is heard on the remix. 4. I like that “Peaches En Regalia” is sped-up just a bit on the remix, making the drums snappier and the whole thing more cartoony.
Another exceptionally good thing about the remix is that it still sounds like a 1969 recording instead of making it sound modern like in the case of the remix of Cruising with Ruben and the Jets that took a 1968 album and made it sound like 1984, especially the drums.

Love Zappa, Beefheart, King Crimson. Another act you should check out is England’s Cardiacs 1976-2008. More recent ones you might also like are Field Music, Dutch Uncles and Wave Pictures.
Was that a Kids In The Hall reference at 3:46?
Bahahaha!
Instead of reviewing the album, you should review what Frank said about rock journalists and critics.
Self-important, and rather narcissistic ‘insights’.
50k celebration yippee
I love how Anthony intensely stares at the camera lol
I love this s album, but I prefer Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
WHORE HOUSE MATTRESS.

I would have believed this was shot in 2017. Does Anthony not age?
