On Sex & Food, UMO try to convey significant political messages via an inconsequential bedroom pop sound.

jcole new album
disagree on this one. i thought it was probably UMO’s most cohesive album yet. and American Guilt is really good
When my favorite song is The Internet Of Love rip
A perfect circle. You must review that album. You must. You must. You….must.
hunnybee is one of maybe 4 good songs on this album, huge UMO fan and I was pretty disappointed – probably gonna be great live tho
Any chance for Soccer Mommy’s Clean review?
Hmm… Neubauten review, for Classics or something? Maybe Halber Mensch?

REVIEW KOD
I disagree. Grr face
Yea…man this invalidates all your other reviews. This record was phenomenal.
Anthony, no doubt you have to get thru a lot of music but how many listens do you give an album before reviewing it. This album is a slow-burner for one …
Oh my god our lord and savior Cal Chuchesta is back ladies and gentlemen!
This gets a five and Boarding House Reach gets a nine? No mention of Hunnybee? The vibe on this record is an amalgam of everything they have previously done mixed with worldly and sociopolitical sensibilities that weren’t realized on past material. There is a very special vibe to this album, I would suggest giving it a few more listens and mulling over your criticisms. You really overlooked this one.
I loved the album 7/10 for me
Man that’s too bad, I really enjoyed this record all the way through. How can you not groove to Hunnybee??
A fucking LIGHT 5???? You are out of your fucking melon mind.

Doesn’t like toro y Moi, tame impala… or UMO. YOU SUCK FANTANO.
Damn this shit deserved a 7 at the minimum you’re trippin dude
This review was half baked. the albums good
Maybe it’s just you
I loved UMO’s first two albums, but I find this new album fairly tedious, I couldn’t actually listen to the whole thing. I can’t stand the way he records his voice, it sounds to me as though he doesn’t like his voice hence why it is saturated it with affects, also they seem to be overly obsessed with slick production which is has a great retro feel but the songs don’t really do anything, is he trying to sound like Prince or something? I dunno, it’s annoying whatever it is.
I respectively disagree with you on this one Anthony. While the energy isn’t on par with Multi-Love, each track blends together so well and feels meaningful. I feel it’s at least an 8. To each his own.
Disagree. Definite leap in evolution of sound on this record. The keyboards on Sex & Food take it to a new level, and the guitar playing has gotten better too for sure. Everyone, including the reviewer, talks about the singles but just play it from the beginning and take it in as an album. It’s a solid record that is better than this review says it is. Also basically single-handedly brought the univibe into indie rock, bravo UMO.
anybody else feel like this might be the best album of the year
