Inquisition is great!

cjdadrumma says:

I stumbled upon Emperor’s “Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk” a few months ago and I’ve been in love with the genera ever since

Diego Lucas Leal Parreiras says:

I loved that you mentioned Sarcófago in the your video. I’m from the city of Belo Horizonte (Brazil) the same city where the Sarcófago began. Blasphemy did a show here recently; made a point of taking a photo in the same tomb used on the cover of INRI. Once I took the people of Beton (Slovenia) in the same place; they loved to visit the ‘Bonfim’ cemetery. I say it’s a lot cooler than the “Black Metal Wall” in Norway.

I loved your list! This is my list of records that introduced me to Black Metal:

1987 – Sarcófago – INRI
1987 – Bathory – Under The Sign Of The Black Mark
1990 – Blasphemy – Fallen Angel Of Doom
1992 – Darkthrone – A Blaze In The Northern Sky
1992 – Mystifier – Wicca
1993 – Impurity – The Lamb’s Fury
1993 – Beherit – Drawing Down The Moon
1993 – Immortal – Pure Holocaust
1994 – Mayhem – De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
1995 – Amen Corner – Jachol ve Tehilá
1996 – Satyricon – Nemesis Divina
1996 – In Memorian – Insantification
1996 – Gorgoroth – Antichrist
1998 – Urgehal – Massive Terrestrial Strike
1999 – Marduk – Panzer Division Marduk
2000 – Impaled Nazarene – Nihil
2003 – Hecate – Odes ao Oculto
2004 – Miasthenia – Batalha Ritual
2005 – Ocultan – Profanation

AvntXardE says:

No “Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk”? And no “Under the sign of hell”?

Also I would have chosen “Hvis lyset tar oss” over “Det som engang var” and “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” over “Deathcrush” anytime. But I guess taste is different.

Alexander Stoykov says:

I got into black metal when I was 11(now I’m 15). I started with Mayhem, Venom and Inquisition.

robert lopez says:

I grew up in the 80s and I remember seeing Venom albums and they scared the crap out of me. Keep in mind this was the 80s. I miss going to the record stores and browsing the metal and import sections. Keep up with the videos man.

Orangeokie7 says:

Have to agree about Filosofem. That album could definitely be the best black metal album ever recorded.

dominic spurrier says:

FUCKING LOVE SHINING! Fun thing my mom was friends with niklas mother

The 90s black metal is were it’s at!

chef.ramesses-ii says:

i cringed at how you pronounced varg vikernes but cool vid bro

emilio olivas says:

I picked up emperors “anthems..” from the $5 bargain bin back in 2003. I was still new to the metal genre at the time,
Mainly Maiden and dio.
I hated my first listen tho
I couldn’t comprehend the noise
Then on my second listen late at night with headphones opened the whole album up to me
Beautiful chaos!!! Been a huge black metal fan ever since!

Chris Shi says:

pure awesomeness

Asian Horror Fan says:

Great video and I really love your channel, so keep up the awesome work and I hope you’re doing well! ^_^

Thanks for sharing. Good albums.

Nice list man! My first experience with black metal was Cruelty and The Beast-COF.I was 12 or 13 girlfriend let me borrow it,thought it was the scariest shit I ever heard and I loved it lol

Max Vorhees says:

Great list. The only one I would have included was Meryful Fate/King Diamond. Yes I know King didn’t have that black metal sound but like Venom, the imagery and lyrical content is very influential to the sub genre and I don’t care what anyone says I love King’s voice.

MIKE DESTAZADOR says:

Hey scum pretty fucking cool videos bro keep.em.coming. to the max!!!!

Nerzenjäger says:

5:05 for dark incantations being uttered in the background

The Rock Reviews says:

Cradle and dimmu got me into black matal. Great list bro

agornath1 says:

No Emperor? That’s unreal. You severely underrate Mayhem .
It’s cool to be into Cradle of Filth but they aren’t black metal.

Dan Hodgson says:

Celtic Frost doesn’t get enough credit for their influence on hardcore. Carnivore, Sheer Terror, cro-mags all worshiped at the Frost alter

Cradle of snuttefilt says:

Can you understand anything of the lyrics from shining? A lot of americans seems to really dislike subtitles, so I Would imagine that lyrics with a foreign language must be only for the die hard fans

Michael Miller says:

You are just a Death Metal pup but I thought you knocked it out of the park on your picks! I’ve been into Death Metal since 89 and you named half of my favorites and the ones that aren’t are very great albums! Check out Dismember Indecent and Obscene which you may have by now. Probably my favorite Death Metal album of all time. Anyway I love your picks!!

Andreas Johansen says:

Dissection was more blackened Death Metal;)

Sigurd Kveldulf says:

What’s in the tank behind you?

heres johnny says:

i lol’ed when you said you remembered burzum ‘oh that fuckin idiot’. Mar-dook though and not into the best black metal album of all time(de mysteriis dom sathanas)? Lose points my friend.

jody howell says:

5:11 what the fuck is that whispering?

matternicuss says:

Storm of the Light’s Bane has an amazing flow to it, where each song has its own identity, yet adds to the whole album rather than sounding redundant. I too listen to it far more than Somberlain.

MH says:

Nice picks man! Early Sepultura like Arise/ Beneath the Remains/ Schizophrenia was a huge influence for me.

Xtra Spice Mikey says:

where’s Metallica BLACK album??!!

Ventura Ace says:

abigail williams becoming, you forgot

michael garnham says:

fuck everybody cradle of filth is the best

FMHeart says:

Just discovered the channel, amazing work, man.
I have to thank you for that Tsujder mention because I never heard of that band and its fuckin amazing…
Awesome list btw, I would probably add just a bunch of albums to that:

The dynamic gallery of thoughts – …and Oceans
Hordalands Doedskvad – Taake
Diadem of 12 stars – WITTR
1184 – Windir

pretty recent albums compare to the classics but I’m kind of new to the genre.

Nathaniel Damarelos says:

Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk by Emperor is what got me into black metal.

Panu Nevalainen says:

First black metal album i bought was emperor:in the nightside eclipse. Such a majestic album
