i keep wondering why 2 of my top bands in the british prog domain are so uncelebrated: Renaissance and Babe Ruth.

Robin Hamlyn says:

For me, and in no particular order (one album per band):

In the Court of the Crimson King: King Crimson
Close to the Edge: Yes
Ummagumma: Pink Floyd
Nursery Cryme: Genesis
Clutching at Straws: Marillion
Crime of the Century: Supertramp
Aqualung: Jethro Tull
Force Majeure: Tangerine Dream
Wet Dream: Richard Wright
Pyramid: The Alan Parsons Project

Tino Stabile says:

Hi Barry,

Thanks for the challenge.
OK here it goes;

10 – Procol Harum – A Salty Dog
9 – Supertramp – Crime of the Century
8 – Rush – Moving Pictures
7- ELP – Trilogy
6 – Yes – Close to the Edge
5 – King Crimson – In the Court of the Crimson King
4 – Jethro Tull – Aqualung
3 – Marillion – Misplaced Childhood
2 – Genesis – The Lamb Lies down on Broadway
1 – Pink Floyd – Dark Side of the Moon

Well, those are my choices. They say that music is very subjective. I guess in a large part that is true. You are absolute right that …. the art of listening to music growing up was visual as much as it was auditory. Two senses enjoying the experience. With vinyl coming back with a vengence one hopes that our children and theirs get to experience this pleasure as we did.

Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Tino

Very difficult to trim it down because Jethro Tull have a few more for me… as Genesis and Yes… and King Crimson. Love your list. Thanks for this challenge. A great one at that. I got to it late but better late than never as they say.

Keep them coming….

Tino

Mick Sowden says:

Excellent review. If you could look down the camera lense that would be even better.
Eyes off stage left doesn’t quite do it.
Cheers.

MyNameisBritannia says:

I absolutely loved your review. It sets an example of how a proper review should be: objective (as much as humanly possible), knowledgeable, articulate, respectful comments, interesting viewpoints… A pleasure to watch
