That Royal Tenenbaums-ian segment was perfect.
chuga-chuga!
Hey Anthony can you review the new “Everything Everything” record “Get To Heaven”? If you’ve not already got one in the works.
Angry high school mode
Copshootcop
WINNIPEG!!!!!!!!!
I’ve watched the beginning of this video so much. I don’t understand why the Cal Rom/Com shit is funny, but it really, really is.
“the first riff.. will destroy your life!”
haha! love you Anthony.
Does this remind anyone else of nomeansno? Especially management control and dead actors
Someone please a compilation of his name modifications…
TO THE ONE TRUE DOG ABOVE
HERE IS MY BARK
Yeah this was definitely a creative album. Definitely not as intense, though, don’t know where you got that from. Entrench was peak raw aggression from them.
This feels more like the aftermath.
And I still think you would have given that previous record a better score too if you weren’t acting like such a pissy cunt from the cold or flu or whatever you clearly had at the time.
why a bitch gotta lie?
after hearing metal, punk rock, and noise rock I came to a conclusion that this album is already for me
Review Animals As leader – Joy of Motion, absolutely awesome album in the prog metal/djent genre
I remember recommending this band to you a few years ago, and you totally disregarded my suggestion. Not even willing to check them out, now youre some sort of fan all of a sudden…wonderful…;)
ITS DEAT GRIP
That intro made me laugh out my mouth.
+theneedledrop Totally nailed it with this one. Fantastic record. Thanks Anthony!
KENmode have been my favourite ‘metal’ band for the last 8 or so years. Ever since randomly finding them on MySpace back in the day, listening to their song Seoul, and Jesse and I talking.
That said, this record is straight up a love note to all their influences. Today is the Day, Melvin’s, Swans, Jesus Lizard, etc etc. Basically all the noise rock pioneers that they’ve looked up to.
And Steve Albini definitely helped they record and produce this record, which is amazing.
That said, it’s not my favourite KENmode album (I think Reprisal is #1 for me), but that’s not saying too much when every album, imo, is practically perfect to me.
I’ve seen them live about 6 or 7 times now, have bought a shirt each time, and will continue dishing out money to my prairie province neighbours.
Review the new Between the Buried and Me album!
I like it but the vocals sound like Dragon Ball Z Abridged’s Vegeta.
We are BLESSED!!!!!!
Sounds like the Jesus Lizard
There’s a split album of Canadian bands from back in the day (1996?) – The Kittens/Shallow ND ‘Rhinocerous Love’. This is totally in the same heavy vein. Shallow ND was definitely heavier of the two, but Winnipeg has had some great bands over the years bubbling just under the surface and The Kittens personified that for me. Stagmummer was another. They were recorded by Steve Albini back in the mid to late 90s.
the moment you mentioned unsane i knew that ken mode was a band i would enjoy.
so after i watched this review i revved up their bandcamp site and pressed play, then i started smiling with joy.
thanks for the recommendation
You are going to review the new Refused record when it comes out, aren’t you?
Be a better band if the guy emphasized his lyrics and wat he said.. I only made through three minutes but now not being a hater I’m not the biggest metal fan. The guy needs more of a random grind or grime core type feel to his voice like random insert that would be really fast just my opinion like screech really fast random lyrics no beat then the break down repeat u can say wat ever I don’t any thing about this genre really good sounding 6.7832534555560 out of 9.98

Before i forget….
Another record that deserves attention
Failure’s FANTASTIC PLANET!
And since there new record is comming out.
The heart is a monster.
It would be highly appreciated if you shed some light in this records.
Please educated the kids…..
did we listen to the same recordI feel like the Swans comparison was a purposeful prod at people like me to head to the comment section and mash buttons and here I am, doing itto me this was their nicest record yet, after Blessed it got so nice
I wanted a record full of Blessed and it sounded like Blessed + a bunch of Pissed Jeans covers
SOUNDS FOKEN GUD
Killing Fun Since 1981 is easily my favorite track
What was the last thing you ever did that mattered…..?
I’d just like to say how awesome it is to see you reviewing a small hardcore Canadian band like this, these guys deserve way more attention and this will definitely help!!
