The Best of George Harrison Album Review

Thomas Calden says:

I agree with everything that you said about this album. I was disappointed and felt ripped off when it came out, I only really bought for the “Bangladesh” single… Excellent alternative choices, although over here in America, I expected it to have George’s cover of “If Not For You”, and the title track from “Living In The Material World” based on the significant airplay that those tracks got on the FM radio stations at the time, although I prefer your choices, actually.

whats the outro music? sounds like George on guitar

Rod Turner says:

Hi John ,I feel that this could have been made as a double album one with his songs from the beatles years the other as a solo.
But this may all have been a bit over the top maybe. Other songs from the beatle years I feel that could have made the cut, Its all to much, with in you without you, old brown shoe, I me mine, I want to tell you, Savoyl truffel, roll over Beethoven ?, other songs from his solo years,
All things must pass ,Isnt it a pity,( if not for you (got a lot of air play here in aussie) I agree with Don’t let me wait to long ,(should of been a single) Apple scruffs, Ding dong, this guitar Can’t keep from crying (although it didn’t chart well). Maybe the 2 albums could have been released separately or and as together, for beatle and george fans, anyway What do you and others think.

Father Damien Karras says:

I totally agree John, pointless compilation…Great review as always.. Changing the subject slightly I was listening to Elton John’s ‘Single Man’ which I love and is one of my favourite Elton albums.. Would appreciate a review when you get the time mate..

Hi John. I had a feeling that the review would be negative from the very start, but while I completely understand the “semantics” and “indignity” of including Beatles songs along with George solo songs, the fact is that among Harrison’s best-ever classics are tunes like “Here Comes The Sun”, “Something”, and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”. No George Harrison “Best Of” compilation can really exist without those three gems (not as much can be claimed for “Taxman” and “If I Needed Someone”, arguably).  Another thing that most Harrison fans won’t admit is that in 1976 there just weren’t many “Best Of” contenders from George’s solo career to fill up a full two-sided LP. Just my opinion. Cheers!

Really enjoy your videos. Is there a chance of you reviewing some Pink Floyd stuff?
