Andre Arruda says:

1988, gee, I was there… I’m old. That year, I think, it’s a bit of intermezzo time for metal. Almost no bands released a GREAT album. Judas Priest’s Ram it Down was a leftover material from Turbo album. It’d be called Twin Turbos but the label didn’t allow such extravaganza. It sounds bad, lot’s of reverb and maybe the worst body of lyrics in Priest songwriting: ”Thousands and millions guitar/Screaming with power in the air”. C’mon… Metallica was battling against their own ghosts and …Unjustice is a very irregular album. The production is horrible, and the bass… well, we know the history. Sepultura was building their work and Beneath the Remains (their 3rd album) is the the launching pad for Arise. The guitars are good, vocal lines not much beyond from gutural spilled words.

I stay with two great records, tied:
– Slayer’s South of Heaven, a solid work with a great cover, Priest’s Dissident Agressor.
– Living Colour’s Vivid, a refreshing view of heavy/hard rock. Living Colour is a great band and somewhat understimated.

Todd's analog and more says:

It has to Ozzy: No Rest For The Wicked. Great album , miracle man a classic, and of course zakk Wylde, debut album as guitarist for ozzy.
